Pretty Country Things was born out of a hobby!

“Having always sewn, I decided to try hand embroidery.”

We opened a small shop with 5 sewing machines, a bookcase full of fabric and plenty of handmade goodies.

This became my new best friend. You can pick it up at any time and stitch wherever, whenever.

For some years I had a stall at our local Craft Market selling a wide range of items, bags, dolls, pouches, cushions etc.

In May 2012 with no sewing machine shop in our town, and with the support of my husband and family, I decided to take a chance and Pretty Country Things was born.

After 12 months in our little shop, we knew were growing too much for the size of it. There became a demand for machine servicing and lessons and of course notions etc.

Whilst looking for somewhere, we stumbled across an old building in the original Main Street.

The poor shop was in desperate need of some TLC. We purchased it in April 2013 and spent many hours getting the front of our shop ready for business. We opened our doors in October 2013.

We now had more room for fabric, notions, more machines, classes and servicing.

Although my husband works full time (outside of the business) he has completed his Advanced Technician training. He is very passionate about machine repairs and maintains a high standard of work on all machines that come in.

Over the years my love of quilting has evolved and I now try my hand with this new found love.

I belong to the Whyalla Quilters Guild as well as SA Quilters Guild.

As you would all know, you learn something new everyday.
